Woodstock, ON at a Glance
Known as the Friendly City, Woodstock offers visitors scenic tree-lined
streets, abundant parkland and century-old homes. Located in Oxford County in
southwestern Ontario, Woodstock
is situated 129 km (80 mi) southwest of Toronto.
Old
St. Paul's Anglican Church is a notable historic site in the city. The church
was built in 1834 and is surrounded by Woodstock's oldest cemetery. Visitors can
also view the city's unique life-sized statue of a Holstein Freisian cow. The
Springbank
Snow Countess, as it's known, was unveiled in 1937 to commemorate the cow's
record breaking production of butterfat. The Woodstock
Peace Lighthouse should not be missed as it is recognized for having the largest
collection of religious icons and offers a panoramic view of the city. Easy family
walking can be enjoyed at one of Woodstock's many parks and trails, such as Roth
Park Trail, which features a 5.75 km (3.57 mi) trail that can also be used
for cycling or wintertime activities such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
